A message from
Engineers Week General Chairperson
Aaron Thrush, P.E.
Greetings on behalf of the Toledo Area 2010 Engineers Week Committee! Engineers have helped shape the very culture and quality of life we all benefit from on a daily basis and the profession deserves to be celebrated from every corner of society. We will again celebrate the profession during our 58th consecutive Engineers Week 2010 scheduled for February 14th -20th. Our organizing committee is hard at work planning for a week filled with exciting events. We continue a theme of community outreach, striving to engage a broader spectrum of community and organizational involvement. This is an excellent opportunity for you to both contribute and learn more about engineering’s societal influence in the process. Please join in celebrating the profession with us!
The annual E-Week Banquet always proves to be a capstone celebration of the week. This year, Afterburner, Inc. will provide an element of high octane entertainment and practical mission objectives for your organization in a keynote titled:
“Plan. Brief. Execute. Debrief. = Win!
A Fighter Pilot's Secret to Business Success”

The Engineer of the Year and Young Engineer of the Year will be awarded during our annual Monday Engineer of the Year Luncheon. Those selected will be recognized for their outstanding accomplishments in, and contributions to, the profession of engineering. In addition, E-Week targets STEM oriented educational programs for K through College level students, including activities such as:
MATHCOUNTS - Engineer for a Day
Rube Goldberg Competition - Egg Splat - JETS
E-Week Scholarship Presentation
The generosity of our sponsors continues to be instrumental in E-Week’s success. It has enabled us to maintain a long-standing tradition of excellence in E-week activities which celebrate the profession’s contribution to society and expose thousands of youth to opportunities in math, science, and engineering. Our 2009 week of events once again earned honor as the best E-Week celebration in the State of Ohio. With your assistance, I am confident we can continue this tradition in 2010.
Whether you’re a young or experienced practicing engineer, or simply an individual or organization recognizing the value of the engineering profession in our community, we invite you to join us by sponsoring and participating in the E-Week 2010 celebration. You’re involvement will enable us to continue a tradition of quality programming which supports the present and future of our engineering profession and ultimately the advancement of our community. Thank you in advance for supporting the Toledo Area Engineers Week. If you have any questions regarding sponsorship, please contact Lisa Aller, Executive Assistant, Technical Society of Toledo at (419) 530-3436 or tst@eng.utoledo.edu.
Please mark your calendars and plan on attending as many events as you can. Additional information on the Toledo Area Engineers Week, including event details, schedules and registration, can be found at www.TechnicalSocietyToledo.org. If there are any questions, concerns, or you would like to volunteer for events, please feel free to contact me. We look forward to seeing you!
